Articles To gain a greater insight into Lothar Wolleh's personality and creative work, three articles have been selected which mark the beginning and the end of his artistic career. Heiner Stachelhaus's article provides a good insight into Wolleh's work and personality, and draws on statements from friends and colleagues such as Uecker, Luther, Beuys and Heerich. Ingrid Bachér's article is a sensitive and subtle portrait of Wolleh's personality, which offers a good counterpoint to the Stachelhaus article. Both articles were published in 1980 in the Kunstverein Düsseldorf catalogue for the exhibition "Lothar Wolleh Künstlerbildnisse - Kunstobjekte 1960 – 1979“ [Lothar Wolleh - Artistic Portraits and Objets d'Art, 1960-1979]. The third article - by a journalist known only as "Janne" - appeared in the Gotland newspaper "Gotlands folkblad” in 1959, and is a vivid contemporary account of Wolleh as a young man, before he began his studies at the Folkwang School. The article clearly reveals Wolleh's obsession, determination and youthful arrogance at the very start of his artistic career. |
